South Africa's 2011 packaging "Oscars" were announced on Tuesday, their first time being held in Cape Town and a move coinciding with the Propak Cape Expo at the CTICC. The institute of packaging (SA) (IPSA)’s Gold Pack Awards programme – established in 1974 – is entrenched as the premier event for South Africa’s packaging fraternity - and again many of the awards this year went to food and beverage products.
This year the programme attracted 133 entries, from which the judges picked 37 worthy recipients of the golden awards. Food - beverages entries won several of the Best in Category awards, and numerous gold medals.
We are proud to announce that the Top Winner of the Gold Pack trophy is our customer Mondi for the RAPPET 187ml Burgundy wine bottle produced from Urola’s blow moulding equipment.
Environmental benefits, significant cost savings and practical functionality were among the features highlighted by the judges for this 187ml PET wine bottle launched by Cape Classics for its Indaba brand on JetBlue Airways in the US.
This also won best in category: Beverages.
